UK, Germany, Norway and The Netherlands were amongst the jurisdictions that announced the launch of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Alliance at the COP21 conference in Paris. This alliance has committed to striving to make all passenger vehicle sales in their jurisdictions ZEVs as fast as possible and no later than 2050. Accelerating ZEV deployment will achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions of more than 1 billion tons per year by 2050.
eConnect cars and GET-E are pioneering this pan-European switch to ZEV through their collaboration as announced today. This collaboration will mean that passengers travelling by air to London can now reserve a chauffeur driven electric vehicle operated by eConnect cars to take them to their final destination using the door-to-door international reservation platform operated by GET-E.
Award winning eConnect cars will use its fleet of top of the range Nissan Leaf Teknas and executive Tesla Model S vehicles to provide airport transfers to customers who have booked via the GET-E online reservation platform.
Based in Amsterdam, GET-E cooperates with the best electric vehicle transport companies in the major cities of Europe and to date has electric vehicle operators in 16 destinations.
GET-E Founder and Managing Director, Alexander van Deudekom commented: “We are very excited to start our cooperation in London with e-Connect Cars. By offering a 100% electric service in London, a major destination in our network, we further increase our service with ZEV in Europe. Collaboration with pioneering companies like eConnect Cars is part of our goal to achieve global coverage of ZEV and catalysing the development of a zero emission infrastructure”.
eConnect Cars Founder and Managing Director, Alistair Clarke said: “By using zero emission vehicles and encouraging car use rather than car ownership we are working towards solving the twin challenges of congestion and pollution. We are very excited by this announcement as it aligns with our strategy of connecting people using integrated multi-modal, sustainable transport options.”
“Our partnership with GET-E helps us to achieve this and to make an even bigger impact, we’re looking to double the size of our fleet; aiming to be the largest zero emissions transport provider in the UK within five years,” added Clarke.
In a year of success, eConnect has added three national awards to its portfolio and most recently, entered into crowdfunding to help fund the next stage of its growth. More information on how you can invest and be driven towards a clearer future can be found here: http://bit.ly/econnect_
